Privacy Policy

Last updated 28 October 2026. Effective date: 28 October 2026.

In short: the DataKlin app and this website don’t collect personal data. The app sends nothing to us, and the website sets no cookies and has no analytics or trackers.

This policy covers the DataKlin desktop app and the dataklin.com website, run by DataKlin, a brand of Bharath Reddy Kontham (“we”, “us”, “our”).

  • No telemetry. DataKlin has no telemetry, analytics or crash reporting, and collects no usage data. There is no account to sign up for.
  • Your work stays on your device. We never receive your queries, their results, your connection details or your credentials. DataKlin stores your connections, query history and settings on your device.
  • Saved secrets are encrypted. Passwords and keys you save are encrypted with your operating system’s secure storage: the Keychain on macOS, DPAPI on Windows, and your keyring through libsecret or KWallet on Linux. They are never sent to us. Secret storage explains how this works.
  • No update checks. DataKlin doesn’t check for updates on its own today.

DataKlin connects only to:

  • the database servers you add;
  • if you set up AWS sign-in, the AWS endpoints those features need: AWS STS and AWS Secrets Manager.

These connections go directly from your device to those services, never through us. Links in the app to dataklin.com open in your web browser, and only when you click them; the website section below then applies.

DataKlin is built on the Electron framework. On Windows and Linux, Electron may download spell-check dictionary files from a Google server. That request contains no text you type and no database content, but Google receives standard request data, such as your IP address, under its own privacy policy. On macOS, DataKlin uses the spell checker built into macOS.

  • No cookies, analytics or trackers. dataklin.com sets no cookies and has no analytics or trackers. It loads no third-party scripts, fonts or embeds: every file comes from dataklin.com, and a Content Security Policy enforces this.
  • Settings stay in your browser. If you choose a light or dark theme, your browser remembers it in its local storage. On docs pages, your browser also keeps the sidebar’s state in session storage until you close the tab. Neither is a cookie, and neither is sent to us.
  • Search runs in your browser. Your browser downloads the search index from dataklin.com and searches it itself. What you type isn’t sent to a search service.

dataklin.com and downloads.dataklin.com are served by Cloudflare, and some downloads may be served by GitHub Releases. Like any web host, they process standard request data, such as your IP address, your browser’s user agent and the address you request, to deliver and protect the service. They do this under their own privacy policies: Cloudflare’s privacy policy and GitHub’s privacy statement. We don’t receive or keep personal data from them.

We may count downloads of each file and version in aggregate. These counts contain no IP addresses, cookies or other identifiers, and can’t be linked to you. GitHub may show its own download counts for release files.

If you email us at privacy@dataklin.com or legal@dataklin.com, we use your message and email address only to reply to you, and keep them only as long as we need to for that.

We don’t sell, rent or share personal data, and we don’t show advertising.

DataKlin and this website are not directed at children under 13, or the higher age the law in your country sets. We don’t knowingly collect their personal data. In practice, we don’t collect personal data from anyone.

Privacy laws such as the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL, Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) may give you the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, and to access, correct or delete it. You may also be able to complain to your local data protection authority.

DataKlin and this website are designed to comply with privacy laws such as the GDPR, the CCPA and the UAE PDPL by not collecting personal data. Because we hold none beyond emails you send us, most requests will find nothing. Send yours to privacy@dataklin.com and we’ll respond within 30 days.

If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and its dates. We’ll describe material changes here before they take effect, for example if the app ever adds an opt-in feature that sends data.
